Nick Pritchard – Tenor

Born in West Sussex, Nick Pritchard sang in the choir of New College, Oxford (where he studied music) and is currently studying with Russell Smythe and Christopher Glynn at The Royal College of Music, where he is a Mason Scholar a recipient of an Jessie Sumner Award and is further supported by The Musicians Benevolent Fund and The Countess of Munster Trust. He was also the winner of the 2013 Dean and Chadlington, and London Bach Society Singing Competitions respectively.

 Concert appearances include Messiah (for Brian Kay at the The Royal Albert Hall), Samson (for Richard Jackson), Solomon (Nicholas Cleobury and the London Mozart Players), Mozart Requiem, the Petite Messe Solennelle (for Robert Dean), Finzi’s Dies Natalis, and Oh Fair to See, the Monteverdi Vespers of 1610 (at St. John’s Smith Square), Haydn’s The Creation (for Suzi Digby at St. Martin in the Fields), On Wenlock Edge (Vaughan Williams), the Bach Magnificat (for The English Concert c. Laurence Cummings) the B Minor Mass (for Sir John-Eliot Gardiner, the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists) the St. Matthew Passion (Vaughan-Williams Leith Hill Music Festival) the St. John Passion (for the Brighton Early Music Festival), the Christmas Oratorio, and the War Requiem, St. Nicolas, Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings (for John Rutter), Spring Symphony (David Hill) and Winter Words (with Simon Lepper for the Brighton Festival).

 Recent opera roles include Paulino The Secret Marriage (British Youth Opera – for which he won the Dame Hilda Bracket award from Sadler’s Wells) Count Almaviva The Barber of Seville, Lysander A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Co-opera Co.), Prologue/Quint The Turn of the Screw, Alfred Die Fledermaus, Tamino The Magic Flute, Mr. Peachum The Threepenny Opera (Weill), Batille (cover) in Rameau’s Anacreon (for the OAE), Ferrando Cosi fan tutte, Lucano L’incoronazione di Poppea and Torquemada L’Heure Espagnol (both for Royal College of Music International Opera School) and Egeo (cover) in Cavalli’s Jason (ETO).

Nick appears as a soloist on recordings of Monteverdi’s Vespro Della Beata Vergine (Fiori Musicali and Novum), Nelson Mass, Britten Choral works, Couperin Motets Choisis (all Novum) and Gounod’s Ave Maria (Decca).

 Current season/future plans: Britten’s Les Illuminations at the Royal Festival Hall, recitals at the Oxford Lieder Festival, Die Schöne Müllerin in the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall with Gary Matthewman, Handel’s Acis for Laurence Cummings and La Nuova Musica, Telemaco The Return of Ulysses for Iford Arts and Christian Curnyn and Vaughan-Williams’ On Wenlock Edge for Radio 3.
