Hannah Sandison – Soprano

Picture of Hannah SandisonSoprano Hannah Sandison is in her first year of study at the Royal College of Music International Opera School under the tuition of Russell Smythe. She previously attended the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she obtained a first class degree, under the tuition of Kathleen Ferguson.

Recent operatic performances include Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (RCM), Marenka (cover) in Smetana’s The Bartered Bride (British Youth Opera), Marcellina in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Pulcheria in Handel’s Riccardo Primo (RCM). Concert appearances include a recital in the Oxford Lieder Festival, an Elgar Room Recital at the Royal Albert Hall, Haydn’s The Creation in Rochester Cathedral, a English Song recital at the Rachmaninov Hall (Moscow Music Festival), and a dramatized production of Membra Jesu Nostri, Buxtehude, with English Touring Opera. She has performed in master classes with Malcolm Martineau, Roger Vignoles, Susan Bullock, Isobel Buchanan, Lisa Milne, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Christine Brewer.

Hannah won the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Governors Recital Prize for singing and a live broadcast and interview on BBC Radio Scotland. She is a Stephen Catto Memorial Scholar at RCM. Other awards include the Ian Flemming Charitable Trust and Maidement Scholarship Fund (Musicians Benevolent Fund), The Countess of Munster Musical Trust, and a two year Performance Scholarship from the Arts and Human Research Council.

Upcoming performances include Rosmene in Handel’s Imeneo (RCM) in the London Handel Festival, and Piacere in Handel’s Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno with La Nuova Musica, also in the London Handel Festival.
