Gabriella Cassidy – Soprano

Gabriella CassidyGabriella Cassidy was raised and educated in the Channel Island, Jersey. Gabriella recently completed her undergrad at The Royal Northern College of Music studying under the tutelage of celebrated soprano Lynne Dawson. After completing a series of masterclasses in Jersey 2011, Gabriella was recognised for her promise as a singer by renowned international artists Kiri Te Kanawa and Dennis O’Neill. As a result she was offered a place at Dennis O’Neill’s prestigious Academy of Voice in Cardiff, commencing September 2012.

At the RNCM Gabriella completed her first role as Romilda in the RNCM opera production of Handel’s Xerxes (March 2012). In addition to this she has played the role of 2nd Spirit in Die Zauberflöte, Cupid in Purcell’s King Arthur, Arpago in Vivaldi’sL’Incoronazione di Dario, and Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in the RNCM’s Opera Scenes. RNCM operas chorus include: Die Fledermaus by Richard Strauss, La belle Helène by Jacques Offenbach, and Carmen by Georges Bizet. She has also appeared as a chorus member in Opera de Bauge Roméo et Juliette by Gounod and Tosca. Gabriella was also chosen to participate in the Chorus for British Youth Opera (2012) in The Bartered Bride by Smetena.

Prior to joining the RNCM Gabriella attended Chethams School of Music where she was involved in many prestigious concerts and a recital tour of Norway singing the works of Grieg, both at his home and the Concert Hall in Trolhaugen Bergen. This subsequently led to her being invited to sing at the Norwegian Embassy in London. Gabriella is a keen ensemble singer and was a member of the Chethams Chamber Choir with whom she recorded Haydn’s Creation with Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Consort.
