Alexander Haigh – Tenor

Alex HaighAlex started his musical education at Hull University reading Music and Drama where he directed and performed in several shows including Jerry Springer the Opera by Richard Thomas and Last 5 Years by Jason Robert Brown.  Whilst at Hull he also composed a musical adaptation of the play ‘Yerma’, by Garica Lorca.

Alex has studied with Sarah Leonard, Christopher Wilson and Henry Herford, performing a wide range of repertoire with a focus on English song.  He has sung at master classes with Robert Tear, Sarah Conolley, Simon Keenlyside and Dame Felicity Lott in their respective specialities and he has also performed as a jazz singer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival twice.  In addition, he has performed jazz with several solo artists including Maureen Braithwaite.  His main focus, as a soloist, is operatic repertoire and English song.

Graduating from Trinity Laban Conservatoire with a Masters (with distinction) in vocal performance, Alex was taught by Lynton Atkinson, Helen Yorke and Linda Hirst. At Trinity, Alex performed as a soloist with the BBC Symphony Chorus at the Royal Albert Hall, worked with ENO in a workshop production of Two Boys by Nico Muhly and performed in staged productions of Rinaldo (Handel) and Albert Herring (Britten).
