Sam Young – Baritone

Sam YoungSam is a qualified baritone singer from Surrey. He attended Charters School in Sunningdale, Berkshire, leaving in 2011 with three A-Levels, including an A* for Music. It was during this time that he started his vocal training, leaving sixth form with a Grade 8 in Classical Singing. He is currently in the middle of his MMus degree at Bath Spa University, for which he was awarded the Bath Spa University Classical Performance Award, after completing his BA with honours.

Aside from being a solo singer, Sam sings as part of Bath-based chamber choir Enceladeus. He has also run a choir in Bath for the last two years called The Accidentals, who specialise in contemporary choral music. He also plays the violin to Grade 8 standard. Sam has had the opportunity to perform in several countries including Germany, New York, and most recently, Shanghai.

Operatic/theatrical credits include: Moore in Lampe’s The Dragon of Wantley, Pluto in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld, Figaro The Marriage of Figaro, Priest/Speaker in Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Bath Spa University), Billy Crocker in Anything Goes and  Will Parker in Oklahoma!

Sam hopes to continue his studies as a singer and aims to one day perform professionally around the world.
