Sophia Rahman enjoys a varied career which encompasses solo, chamber, adjudicating and coaching activities. Concert highlights of the current season include tours of Kazakhstan, New Zealand and Estonia.

Sophia acts as an official accompanist for organisations such as the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition, the Barbirolli International Oboe Competition, IMS/Prussia Cove and the Samling Foundation.

She has recorded over twenty chamber discs for companies including Naxos, ASV, Dutton/Epoch, Meridian, Linn records and Guild.

She was Artist-in-Residence at Queen’s University, Belfast for eight years, and has given masterclasses at conservatoires throughout the UK and also in Russia, China and New Zealand. She also founded the ongoing Norburton Hall Masterclass series in Dorset, for amateur pianists and string-players.

She studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School with Peter Norris and Louis Kentner, took a first-class honours degree in English from King’s College, London and completed her piano studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Alexander Kelly and Malcolm Martineau. She was the winner of the Royal Overseas League’s Accompanist Award and the Liza Fuchsova Memorial Prize for a chamber music pianist in consecutive years.
