Aimee ToshneyAimee Toshney – Soprano

Scottish soprano Aimee graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2008 with an MA (1st class hons) in Music and Languages and numerous prizes. She then worked for the National Youth Choir of Scotland and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Junior Chorus before accepting scholarships to undertake postgraduate studies at the University of Glasgow (MMus Musicology) and the Royal Northern College of Music (MMus Solo Performance). She currently studies with Deborah Rees and will graduate this summer.

Career highlights thus far have included a tour of Australasia as a singer of Scots song, the principal soprano role of Romilda in the RNCM’s recent production of Handel’s Xerxes and numerous oratorio engagements, most recently Vivaldi Gloria and Mendelssohn Hymn of Praise in Bangor Cathedral. Future plans include the role of the Governess in Huddersfield Youth Opera’s production of The Turn of The Screw, chorus at Wexford Festival Opera 2012, and an appearance as principal artiste at the 2013 Glamis Castle Musicale.

In addition to her performance work Aimee teaches, accompanies, and works as an associate musician with Jessie’s Fund children’s charity. She would like to thank Wallace and Hodge Co.
